Today, we looked at the camera test for my sophomore film (which I posted last week, but also here). Now, when I got the footage back, I was really pretty proud of it. I think it was essentially exactly the look I wanted to achieve, and I also was excited that I was able to choose the shots I wanted to use (and did use) on the actual shoot. I was excited to show it. My teacher told me flat out that it was boring and that she was disappointed. I’m not quite sure what to do or what to feel. I was feeling really good about the photography of my final up until she said that.
I made a self-portrait yesterday for my computer art class. I sketched my head and shoulders, then brought it into Illustrator and Live Traced it; the lens was also made in Illustrator. It was critiqued today in class, but I don’t entirely know what people thought about it because no one really says anything during critiques in that class.
I’ve been crunching this week to get all my pre-production work done for my final (which you can see evidence of in the Storyboarding and Camera Test videos that I posted). We’re shooting this weekend; in fact, we’re leaving tomorrow night, and we still don’t even have our crew member. It’s been pretty stressful, but I am actually feeling pretty good about it. We’re the first group in our class to shoot, so that’s good. My biggest fear is that we’re going to find out that we’re not ready. But, that’s filmmaking I suppose. You never know until wrap how screwed you are.
Ok, yea, I haven’t posted in a while. I think what happened was I got fairly bored with the way I was posting. It just wasn’t that interesting. I’m going to start posting again, but with a new method. So, here’s the manifesto for the new blog:
I will not post regularly, but I will post often.
I won’t post like a diary anymore, because that’s just boring. I’m going to post thoughts, interests, and concerns. As well as a few other random things.
Posts will not be dense, but rather straight to the point.
The content of my posts will be more interesting.
I don’t really have a fifth point, but I felt like I should include more than four.
Now, let’s just see if I can stick to that and keep up posting.
